The #1 cause of disease—and how to prevent it

I once had a conversation with a woman who proudly told me that she was happy to be in good health in her mid-50s.

This is how she described "good health":
  • Her cholesterol was under control with Lipitor
  • Her blood pressure stayed right around 120/80 with Lopressor
  • Nexium kept her acid reflux quiet
  • Imitrex worked like a charm on her migraines
THAT'S good health?

This woman is anything BUT healthy.  What she has is a chemically-induced absence of symptoms.

Sadly, people like this sickly woman are rapidly increasing in number in our society today.  Plus we’re not dealing with isolated health challenges anymore—at least one out of four of us has two or more chronic conditions which are never "cured" but just "managed" with multiple medications.
And that's our new definition for "health"--medicated for life and never really feeling good, but making drug companies rich beyond belief.

What's behind these health horrors?
While there are many reasons for our abysmal states of health, one of the most significant underlying factors is chronic inflammation.

Chronic inflammation is the primary causative factor behind ALL of these health trends:
  • Nearly 7 out of 10 of us are overweight or obese.
  • Allergic conditions (including asthma) now rank 5th among chronic diseases.
  • Nearly 30 million Americans have diabetes, and estimates are that by 2025, the number of Americans with diabetes will be at least 50 million.
  • Arthritis and joint disease affect 53 million people in the United States--almost 1 out of 5 people.
  • Over 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Our number one and two killers—heart disease and cancer—are responsible for nearly half of all deaths.
  • Nearly one-third of us have high blood pressure.
If those statistics don't scare you, I don't know what will.

Fight back

The good news is there are ways you can fight chronic inflammation and help prevent it from creating chronic disease in you.

And even if you are already affected with one or more chronic diseases, you can help mitigate their effects and even possibly reduce or eliminate the need for certain medications!

Here are four effective inflammation-fighting strategies that can help make all the difference in YOUR state of health:

1) Eat away at inflammation
These are foods that have been shown to help reduce inflammation:
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Flaxseeds
  • Walnuts and almonds
  • Herbs and spices such as turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, oregano, basil and rosemary
  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Berries
  • Oranges
2) Get enough Omega-3 EFAs
Omega-3 essential fatty acids are Nature's anti-inflammatory.  These are found in abundances in fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and cod.

Unfortunately, also found in abundance in these critters are high levels of mercury, PCBs, and other toxins, especially in those caught from the Atlantic…so it's wise to avoid Atlantic varieties and eat only wild-caught Pacific or Alaskan varieties.

Also, purified, pharmaceutical-grade fish oil supplements are a great way to get the Omega-3 EFAs you need without having to worry about pollutants in grocery store fish.  Just remember to talk to your doctor first if you are on blood thinners.

3) Do the avoid-dance

Just as important as getting natural sources of anti-inflammatories is avoiding these harmful inflammation-causing foods:
  • Sunflower oil, corn oil, hydrogenated oils and other processed vegetable oils
  • Refined carbohydrates (sugar, flour, white bread, pastries, etc.)
  • Processed, packaged foods
  • Fake foods (including margarine and artificial sweeteners)
  • Soda
  • GMO foods (assume any packaged food that is non-organic has GMO ingredients in it)
  • Meat and eggs from conventionally farmed animals, especially beef and chicken.  Strive for organic versions of these.
  • Conventionally grown produce with high pesticide residues.  Try to buy organic as much as you can.
4) Support your beneficial gut bacteria
The beneficial bacteria in your gut house 70 percent of your immune system, so that should give you a clue as to how important they are.

Unfortunately, our gut bacteria populations have been under assault from things like antibiotics (from both pills we take and conventionally farmed animals we eat), refined carbohydrates, soda, smoking, lacking sleep, medication residue, and stress.

In addition, our exaggerated fears of bacteria and our efforts to wipe them out of our existence has created immune systems which have not been conditioned or developed to function as they were designed to.

Instead what we’re seeing are over-sensitive immune systems that launch an out and out inflammatory attack against harmless microbes or tissues, and this is coming out as our skyrocketing rates of autoimmune diseases and allergies.

So now more than ever, it’s crucial to help support your gut bacteria and immune system with a full-spectrum, multi-strain probiotic formula

It’s never too late!

No matter what your state of health is, you can be helped by counteracting inflammation in your body with safe, natural measures.

Don't procrastinate.  Do it now.

GMO--Genetically Modified Organism or Getting Massively Obese?

Now that genetically modified organism (GMO) foods have been busted as far as the false promise that they are the way to end world hunger (they don’t increase yields or create more nutritious crops) and instead are basically Roundup® on a plate, a quiet shift has taken place that ensures these creepy crops can generate enormous profits.

Because they’ve found their niche--in processed and junk foods!

But alas, the truth is starting to trickle out about these lab monsters, proving once again that it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature.

Here’s the scoop:

Better ingredients, better junk food
Currently, the most widely-produced GMO crops in the US are corn, soy, and wheat.

But it’s not likely that you will see GMO ears of corn in the produce section of your local grocery store.  Instead, GMO corn is primarily used to make high fructose corn syrup—which is in virtually every processed food on the planet, and especially in soda.

GMO corn and wheat are used in snack chips and crackers.

Plus GMO corn and soy are used to make corn oil and soybean oil—the two most common types of oils used in processed foods.

Keep in mind there are no labeling requirements for GMO ingredients—so for instance what you’ll see on a bag of Fritos® is merely “corn, corn oil and salt.”

On a bottle of Heinz® Ketchup the label will show only: Tomato concentrate from red ripe tomatoes, distilled vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, salt, spice, onion powder and natural flavoring.

GMO—Getting Massively Obese?
It remains largely unknown what the long-term health effects of GMO crops will be.

Since GMOs are created by splicing DNA between unrelated species, crossing entire kingdoms of organisms (plant and animal, including viruses and bacteria--yuck), who knows what the foreign proteins from these lab creations will do to our bodies in the long run?

Personally, I’d feel safer eating an old shoe.

But one thing studies are showing is that GMO crops contribute to weight gain, over and above that which would be expected from eating a lot of processed and junk food.

In one study examining the potential health effects of GMOs, researchers from Norway observed two groups of rats--one group was given food made with GMO corn and the other was given food made with conventional corn.

Over the course of 90 days, the rats eating the GMO corn diet grew fatter and consumed more food than the rats on the non-GMO diet.

They also observed that rats got fatter when they ate fish that had been raised on GMO corn--so there's a chain reaction effect!

They also tried the experiment on salmon and saw similar results--fish eating GMO corn grew faster and ate more than fish eating non-GMO corn.

Plus the salmon eating the GMO corn had a reduced ability to digest proteins and experienced immune system changes that didn't occur in the non-GMO-fed fish.

Now, I know people are not rats and fish, but look around you—last I checked, our obesity rate is going up, not down, plus autoimmune diseases and food sensitivities are exploding.

I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

Minimize your exposure!

Here’s how you can help minimize your exposure to GMO dangers:

Read labels
To make sure any fresh produce you buy is not GMO, look at the codes on the little stickers:

  • 4-digit code:  Traditionally grown (non-GMO) produce
  • 5-digit code:  Look at the first number:
  • If it starts with a 9, it's organic (like the picture above shows)
  • If it starts with an 8, it's a GMO
Avoid processed foods
Unless a packaged food is 100 percent organic, you should assume it has GMO ingredients.

The answer here is easy—stick to real foods and avoid the packaged stuff as much as possible.

Buy organic whenever you can

Organic foods by definition do not contain GMO ingredients, so if you want snack chips, cereals or other packaged foods, at least opt for organic brands.

Also try to buy as much organic meat, milk and produce as possible—to not only minimize your exposure to GMOs but also hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, and herbicides.

If you're on a tight budget and can't afford to go 100 percent organic, here is a good rule of thumb:  If you are going to be eating the entire food, skin included (like with grapes, peppers or lettuce), strive to buy organic.  If you will be peeling the food (such as with bananas, avocado or oranges) conventional is probably OK.

Also, check out local farmer’s markets and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs in your area.

Help your gut bacteria recover
Unless you’ve been diligent about eating 100 percent organic food, chances are excellent your gut bacteria may have already taken a harmful hit from GMOs because of the glyphosate (Roundup®) that they are sprayed with destroys your friendly flora.

In addition to a healthy diet of real foods, supplementation with a top-quality probiotic can help your gut bacteria bounce back and provide their sickness and disease-fighting protection.

Remember YOU alone are responsible for your health--not biotech companies and food companies.

Don't offer yourself up as a guinea pig, jeopardizing your health while you help to grow their bottom lines.

When it comes to real health, natural is always best.

Two growing dangers you can’t ignore

In honor of Earth Day tomorrow, I’d like to talk about two growing dangers in our environment that you cannot ignore any longer because they could eventually cost you your health or your life.

Genetically modified foods and glyphosate (Roundup®) use.

Here is what you must know about these two “grim reapers” and how you can help minimize their harmful effects on you.

GMO foods—not just pollen experiments
To create genetically modified foods, scientists are playing Mother Nature and not in a good way.

To create a genetically modified food, they alter the genetic code (DNA) of plants by splicing in DNA from a completely unrelated species, crossing different kingdoms of organisms.

For example, chicken genes have been spliced into potatoes and fish genes into strawberries.

Rodent genes have been inserted into tobacco, and bacteria and viruses are spliced into cucumbers and tomatoes.

What has resulted is a series of "alien foods” that we know nothing about.  That includes knowing zero about their safety because only a few very limited studies have been done by the biotech industry…so you can guess how objective those were.

Plus time will tell what the long-term health effects of these “Franken-foods” will be.

I predict that we will see increased immune reactions (like allergies and sensitivities) as well as eventually even chronic diseases like cancer.

Neither the FDA nor the US Department of Agriculture requires biotech companies to prove that GMO foods are safe for human consumption before new modified crops are put on the market.

Currently, the most widely-produced GMO crops in the US are sugar, corn, soy, and wheat—foods which the average American eats in abundance.

Here’s the icing on the cake—glyphosate is typically used in the farming of GMO crops and glyphosate residue has been found in GMO food items!

Glyphosate—kills weeds (and maybe you)
Roundup® is a very popular product that is used in landscaping to kill weeds.
While Monsanto claims that Roundup® is safe, a peer-reviewed report out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), revealed how glyphosate can, in fact, harm human health.

Monsanto has claimed that Roundup® is harmless to animals and humans because it uses what is called the shikimate acid pathway to kill weeds, and this metabolic pathway is absent in people and pets.  However, this pathway is present in BACTERIA, and that’s how it can cause bodily harm in both humans and animals—through your gut bacteria.

Glyphosate disrupts bacteria’s ability to function.  What makes this worse is that glyphosate prefers to attack your beneficial bacteria, thereby allowing dangerous organisms to flourish and overcome your friendly flora.  At that point, you become a candidate for any number of viruses, infections, and diseases.

Plus glyphosate has been linked to certain cancers (including lymphoma), and to DNA damage, premature births, birth defects and ADHD.

In addition, glyphosate can also destroy the villi in your intestinal wall, and reduce your body’s ability to absorb nutrients.  This can increase your risk for deficiency diseases as well as obesity.

Minimize your exposure!
Here’s how you can help minimize your exposure to GMO and glyphosate dangers:

Read labels
When buying fresh produce look at the codes on the little stickers on the items:
  • 4-digit code:  Traditionally grown (non-GMO) produce
  • 5-digit code:  Look at the first number:
  • If it starts with a 9, it's organic
  • If it starts with an 8, it's a GMO
Avoid processed foods
GMO crops are used extensively in packaged/processed foods, and the labels don't need to disclose that.  As a matter of fact, unless a packaged food is 100 percent organic, you should assume it has GMO ingredients.

The answer here is easy—stick to real foods and avoid the packaged junk as much as possible.

Buy organic whenever you can
Organic foods by definition do not contain GMO ingredients, so if you want snack chips, cereals or other packaged foods, at least opt for organic brands.

Try to buy as much organic meat, milk and produce as possible.

If you're on a tight budget and can't afford to go 100 percent organic, here are the produce items which are the most tainted and are important to buy organic:
  • Celery
  • Peaches
  • Strawberries
  • Apples
  • Blueberries
  • Nectarines
  • Bell Peppers
  • Spinach
  • Cherries
  • Kale/Collard
  • Greens
  • Potatoes
  • Grapes
Help your gut bacteria recover
Unless you’ve been diligent about eating 100 percent organic, chances are excellent your gut bacteria may have already taken a harmful hit from GMOs and glyphosate.

In addition to a healthy diet of real foods, supplementation with a top-quality probiotic can help your gut bacteria bounce back and provide their sickness and disease-fighting protection.

Remember YOU alone are responsible for your health--not biotech companies and food companies.

Six health foods that aren’t healthy

One of the most common responses I get as a nutritionist when I ask people about their diet is, “Oh, I eat healthy.”

Then I brace myself when I ask what that means…because what many people think is “healthy” is anything BUT.

Now, most people have good intentions—the problem is unhealthy foods are marketed to appear healthy to drive up sales.

And they’re about as good for you as eating shredded cardboard.

Let’s take a look at some of the common offenders:

Not healthy food #1: Breakfast cereals
Most breakfast cereals are packed with sugar (including high fructose corn syrup), preservatives, artificial flavorings and colorings and genetically modified ingredients (GMOs).

Even the nutrients that they’re fortified with are synthetically derived from by-products of the wood and petroleum processing industries.

Better breakfast options include oatmeal (real oats—not the sugary instant varieties), yogurt, fresh fruit and eggs.

And speaking of eggs….

Not healthy food #2: Egg Beaters
Egg Beaters is a processed egg product that plays upon people’s fears of cholesterol and heart disease.

They’re created by removing the egg yolk (where the majority of the egg’s cholesterol resides) and replacing it with “natural flavor” (which can include MSG), as well as xanthan gum and Maltodextrin (both of which are made with GMO corn), and synthetic nutrients (because they took out several naturally occurring nutrients with the yolk).

Regarding the cholesterol scare, know this: Your liver makes the vast majority of your body’s cholesterol, and most people typically absorb 20 percent or less of the cholesterol they take in with food.

So if you have cholesterol concerns, I suggest you take care your liver by drinking enough water, eating lots of onions and garlic and having alcohol only in moderation.

As far as eggs go, even the Mayo Clinic acknowledges that most healthy people can eat up to seven eggs a week with no increase in their risk of heart disease.  So skip the processed garbage and enjoy an occasional REAL egg.

Not healthy food #3: Sports drinks
Most sports drinks are loaded with unhealthy ingredients like sugar, highly processed sodium and artificial colors and flavors.

The average 20 oz. bottle of Gatorade contains a whopping 34 grams of sugar—that’s 10 grams MORE than a Hershey’s milk chocolate bar!

The biggest question is whether you even need sports drinks at all!  Typically if your workouts are one hour or less, water is all you need.

Not healthy food #4: Vegetable oils and margarine (aka fake butters)
Our typical diets are completely topsy-turvy in terms of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids—we get far too many inflammation stirring Omega-6 EFAs and too few anti-inflammatory Omega-3s.

This is a major contributing factor to our high rates of inflammatory conditions today like arthritis and heart disease!

And a BIG source of our Omega-6 overload is vegetable oils and margarine/fake butters.

Isn't it ironic that they’re marketed as heart healthy when they in fact contribute to the inflammation in your arteries that leads to atherosclerosis?

Plus vegetable oils and margarine are polyunsaturated fats which, when heated at high temperatures, can have their molecular structure altered to create trans-fats

Better oil and fat choices are stable fats like extra virgin olive oil, real butter and even lard and chicken fat.

Not healthy food #5: Farm-raised fish
Farm-raised fish are given antibiotics to stave off diseases that result from horribly crowded conditions and are treated with pesticides to combat sea lice.

And whatever is in the fish becomes a part of YOU when you eat them.

Research has also found that farmed fish has fewer Omega-3 EFAs than wild-caught fish, plus a 20 percent lower protein content.

Plus studies by the Environmental Working Group have found that cancer-causing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) exist in farm-raised salmon at 16 times the rate of wild salmon.

There’s no wiggle room on this: Buy only fresh wild-caught fish.

Not healthy food #6: Low-fat or fat-free foods
Sadly, many people still subscribe to the “all fats are evil” way of thinking…and nothing could be more harmful to your health!

When fats are removed from foods, it leaves them tasteless. So food manufacturers add sugar, sodium and chemicals to make them more palatable.

Plus what many fat-avoiders don’t realize is a moderate amount (2-3 tablespoons) of good fat each day is vital to your health (especially your brain and nervous system)...and can help you lose weight!

Fats turn off your body's hormone messengers that direct fat storage.  They also help increase satiety and keep you full, so you eat less.

Good fats include extra-virgin olive oil, avocado, butter, flaxseed oil, fish oil, nuts and lean meats, eggs and dairy products (preferably organic from grass fed animals).

If you want to learn more about ALL the health benefits of fats and knowing good fats from bad, check out Fight Fat with Fat by Dr. John Salerno.

Fight Fat with Fat challenges the currently-held opinion that a low-fat diet is healthy, and explains how eating that way can lead to elevated blood glucose, insulin resistance and ultimately type 2 diabetes, as well as heart disease and obesity.

Help your body recover from unhealthy foods!
If I’ve just burst your bubble about foods you thought were healthy, not to worry.

Because it's easier than you think to avoid getting misled by “food deception” and help your body bounce back from any harmful effects from unhealthy foods in the past.

Here are four ways you can help:
1- Avoid processed foods as much as possible

2- Buy organic whenever you can
It’s the only way you can guarantee that you’re eating GMO-free foods, and also avoiding antibiotics and hormones from meats and dairy, as well as pesticides and herbicides in produce.

3- Boost your intestinal flora balance
The sugar, chemicals, pesticides and herbicides from so-called “healthy foods” are very harmful to your intestinal flora.

And since this is where 70 percent of your immune system resides, having imbalanced gut flora is putting out the welcome mat for bugs, viruses, infections and even diseases.

But a top-quality probiotic like Super Shield multi-strain probiotic formula can help turn that around for you.

Super Shield has been formulated with a variety of probiotic strains to help keep your population of friendly bacteria strong and ready for whatever dangerous viruses, infections or toxins come your way.

4- Curb inflammation by balancing your Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids
Since our foods are lacking the Omega-3 essential fatty acids they used to have, supplementing with an Omega-3 fish oil formula like VitalMega-3 can be a huge help to ensure a healthier Omega-3 EFA supply.

Mounds of studies have touted fish oil’s benefits of reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and easing arthritis pain.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia

Roundup® recently found in SunChips

I hope you see this before you eat lunch today, especially if you’re a chip lover.

GMO Free USA, a national advocacy group, recently announced that Frito Lay's SunChips tested positive for glyphosate, a popular weed-killing chemical and the active ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup®.

Their testing also showed the chips contained 100 percent GMO (genetically modified) corn, so it’s no surprise that the chips contain glyphosate, since GMO crops are typically sprayed with Roundup® during the growing process.

This creates a serious double-edged sword as far as your health is concerned.

Here’s why I say that—what you must know about GMO foods and the potential dangers of glyphosate, and what you can do to minimize the risk they pose to your health.

GMO foods—what are they exactly?
Nature has a history of creating different variations of plants through a type of cross-breeding, typically with insects or the wind moving pollen from one plant to another.

This has been going on since the dawn of time and what results many times is a "new and improved" species of plant that may be more sturdy or nutritious than its "ancestors."  This was the initial idea behind GMO crops—to create crops that would be heartier and produce greater yields than conventional crops.

But the problems started to rise when GMO scientists began playing Mother Nature.

Because they're not conducting experiments in a lab sprinkling pollen from plant to plant, waiting to see if the offspring have any advantages over the original plants.

Instead they’re altering the genetic code (DNA) of plants by cutting off bits of a living organism's DNA and splicing them into a completely unrelated species.

This is what's called a GMO--or genetically modified organism.

Why could they be dangerous?
The real potential danger with GMOs is that scientists are NOT splicing plant DNA to plant DNA.

Instead they’re crossing entire kingdoms of organisms and splicing things like chicken genes into potato DNA or fish genes into strawberry DNA.

So for all of you who are allergic to seafood, think about that next time you eat strawberries.

In addition, rodent genes have been inserted into tobacco.  Even bacteria and viruses are being spliced into cucumbers and tomatoes.

What has resulted from this DNA-splicing process is a series of "aliens"--entirely new and foreign life forms that we know NOTHING about.  That includes knowing basically ZERO about their safety, because very few studies have been done thus far that prove they are not harmful.

In addition, these new crops are introducing proteins that are completely foreign to our bodies.  So time will tell how these new “Franken-proteins” will react with our bodies in the long-term.  It is my suspicion (and that of many other holistic practitioners) that we may start to see a rise in immune reactions (like food allergies and sensitivities) as well as eventually even chronic diseases like cancer.

Note the GMOs are not being monitored either.

Neither the FDA nor the US Department of Agriculture requires the biotech companies to prove that GMO foods are safe for human consumption before new modified crops are put on the market.

Currently the most widely-produced GMO crops in the US are sugar, corn, soy and wheat—foods which the average American eats in abundance.

And unfortunately, the evidence is starting to trickle in that these “Franken-foods” are, in fact, harmful…

GMO = Growing massively obese?
As part of a project examining the health effects of GMOs, researchers from Norway studied two groups of rats.  One group was fed food containing GMO corn and the other was given food made with conventional corn.

Over the course of 90 days, the rats eating the GMO corn diet grew fatter and consumed more food than the rats on the non-GMO diet.

The researchers also observed that rats got fatter when they ate fish that had been raised on GMO corn--so there's a chain reaction effect.

They also tried the experiment on salmon and saw similar results--fish eating GMO corn grew faster and ate more than fish eating non-GMO corn.

Plus the salmon eating the GMO corn had a reduced ability to digest proteins, and experienced immune system changes that didn't occur in the non-GMO-fed fish.

Now let’s switch gears a bit and talk about the other edge of the sword…

Glyphosate—so much more than pretty landscaping
Roundup® is a very popular product that is used heavily in the landscaping industry to create pretty rock beds, mulch beds, patios and fence lines, as well as to kill weeds around vegetable plants.

While the manufacturer (Monsanto) insists that Roundup® is safe, a peer-reviewed report authored by science consultant Anthony Samsel and research scientist Dr. Stephanie Seneff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reveals how glyphosate can, in fact, harm human health.

They explain that glyphosate residue can “enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease.”  Most notably, glyphosate uses your gut bacteria to help carry out its harmful actions.

Monsanto has claimed that Roundup® is harmless to animals and humans because it uses what is called the shikimate acid pathway to kill weeds, and this metabolic pathway is absent in people and pets.  However, this particular pathway IS present in BACTERIA, and that’s how it can eventually work to cause bodily harm in both humans and animals—through your gut bacteria.

The bacteria in your body outnumber your bodily cells by 10 to one, and every tiny bacterium inside of you has the shikimate pathway--so they can all assist in the harmful actions of glyphosate!
Glyphosate causes disruption of the bacteria’s ability to function.  What’s makes this worse is that glyphosate prefers to affect your beneficial bacteria, thereby allowing dangerous pathogens to flourish and overcome your friendly microbes.  At that point, you become a candidate for any number of viruses, infections and diseases to fester.

Plus glyphosate has been linked to certain cancers, including lymphoma, and to DNA damage, premature births, birth defects, and ADHD, according to previous research.

In addition, Dr. Seneff has explained that glyphosate can also eventually destroy the villi in your intestinal wall, and reduce your body’s ability to absorb vitamins and minerals.  This can make you a high risk for deficiency diseases as well as obesity.

Minimize your risk!
The bottom line here, my friend, is you have to be careful and smart and minimize your risk of the dangerous effects of GMOs and glyphosate.

First and foremost, if you eat GMO foods, you are a human guinea pig, period.

And know that it’s very likely that unless you are eating mainly organic foods, you are exposing yourself to GMO ingredients as well as glyphosate.

But here’s how you can help minimize your risk with these five steps:

1) Become a careful label reader
There's no need to panic and avoid buying produce and missing out on all its awesome health benefits.
All you need to do is when shopping for produce look closely at the little stickers on the items.  Here's what they mean:
  • 4 digit code: It’s your regular old traditionally grown (non-GMO) produce
  • 5-digit code: Look at the first number.
·       If it starts with a 9, it's organic and safe.
·       If it starts with an 8, it's a GMO!

2) Avoid processed foods
GMO crops (and their glyphosate residue) are also slipped into in packaged/processed foods, and the labels don't need to spell that right out for you.

For example, most snack chips are made with GMO corn.

So the more you avoid buying processed or packaged stuff to begin with, the better off you are.

But if you wish to indulge in a snack or convenience food, make sure it's organic (see number 3 below).

3) Buy organic whenever you can
Organic foods by their very definition do not contain GMO ingredients

So if you want corn chips or other packaged foods, at least opt for organic brands.

And try to buy as much organic meat and produce as possible.

If you're on a tight budget and can't afford to go 100% organic, here are the produce items which have the largest amounts of pesticide and herbicide residue and are most important to buy organic:

·       Celery
·       Peaches
·       Strawberries
·       Apples
·       Blueberries
·       Nectarines
·       Bell Peppers
·       Spinach
·       Cherries
·       Kale/Collard
·       Greens
·       Potatoes
·       Grapes (Imported)

4) Eat real foods & have good digestion
When you eat real foods and have efficient digestion, you are significantly minimizing your chances of taking in GMOs and glyphosate, and you also help nourish your body the way Nature--NOT the biotech industry--intended.

Not only will this help regular BMs become YOUR morning glory, but you'll be less likely to overeat and gain weight (unlike the unlucky rats and fish in the studies above).

And of course, good digestion can help mean less acid reflux, gas and bloating too!

All you need to do is follow a reliable program that will show you how to structure healthy, easier to digest meals and guide you on making REAL foods that are positively scrumptious.

And that, my friend, is what Great Taste No Pain and Great Taste No Gluten will do for you.

Both programs show you what foods you should eat together to help encourage better digestion that will help leave you feeling great and loaded with energy.  Eating this way will also help counteract the harmful effects of a not-so-great diet that you may have had in the past.

And the recipe books in each system are both loaded with delicious dishes featuring REAL foods that will nourish your body and make your taste buds dance.

5) Help your gut bacteria recover
If your friendly gut flora have already taken a hit from glyphosate or other harmful factors (such as antibiotics, antacids, smoking, stress or a nutrient-poor diet) supplementing with a high quality probiotic can help repopulate the helpful bacteria in your gut and bring your flora balance to a healthier level.

And Super Shield is as good as it gets.

Super Shield's 13 strains of quality, potent friendly bacteria are eager to line your intestinal walls, crowd out the harmful bacteria, strengthen your gut wall, sharpen your immune system and help keep digestion smooth.

And that means you can start feeling much better...fast!

It’s all up to YOU

Remember YOU alone are responsible for your health--not biotech companies and food companies

Don't offer yourself up as a guinea pig, jeopardizing your health while you help to grow their bottom lines.
