Study: Probiotics soothe gluten-related inflammation
One of the biggest health challenges that the 18 million people suffering from gluten sensitivity and the 3 million people suffering from celiac disease have to deal with is chronic inflammation in the intestinal tract.
This inflammation leads to the familiar abdominal pain, gas, bloating and diarrhea that so often characterize gluten conditions, as well as impairs the body’s ability to assimilate and absorb essential nutrients from food.
The most common remedy for gluten sensitivity or celiac is a gluten free diet, and although that can be tricky at times (more on that below), thus far it’s been the only tried and true way to get relief.
Well, that’s changing because:
Probiotics can help too!
Studies have shown that taking probiotics may help counteract gluten’s harmful effects on the intestinal lining and help curb the painful inflammation.
A study published in the Clinical Experimental Immunology journal found that the probiotic strain Bifidobacterium lactis was particularly effective in helping to inhibit the toxic effects of gliadin (a component of gluten) in intestinal cell culture conditions.
Although this is great news, it’s also easy to see why.
Your friendly intestinal microbes serve many protective roles--they support the integrity of the gut wall, aid in carb digestion, break down fiber, help your body absorb nutrients, protect you against dangerous pathogens and most significantly for sufferers of gluten issues…
They help encourage more appropriate immune responses!
And since gluten sensitivity and celiac are characterized by your immune system overreacting to gluten, probiotics can go a long way in helping to counteract gluten issues at one of their primary root causes!
A word of caution: Some probiotics contain GLUTEN!
Unfortunately, engaging the help of probiotics with gluten problems can blow up in your face…because some of them contain GLUTEN!
The very thing you’re trying to avoid!
So not only is it a good idea to look for a formula that contains Bifidobacterium lactis (the strain in the study mentioned above) but also get a formula that you can be assured is free of gluten.
And Super Shield fits the bill here.
Super Shield’s 13 strains of well-studied bacteria strains contain B. lactis as well as other Bifidobacteria strains, Lactobacillus strains, and even FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides) which is a fiber that is nourishment for your friendly good guys.
And it’s 100 percent gluten free.
